  • POEM: A Simple Plea by GREENWOLFE 1962 (7/31/2010 8:53:00 PM)

Lovely! I spent my earliest years in San Francisco, and still love the ocean, its constant motion and yet its peace. Your poem brought back some sweet memories!

  • POEM: A Place Beside A River by GREENWOLFE 1962 (7/31/2010 8:48:00 PM)

This is a lovely, short poem that evokes a mood of quiet reflection, so rare in the hustle/bustle world of today. Good work, Greenwolfe!

  • POEM: Acceptance Of Fate by GREENWOLFE 1962 (4/28/2008 10:36:00 PM)

A few years ago, when I first heard the term 'acceptance' used in the way you have put it, I balked. Accept? ? ! Why accept the undesirable aspects of life? Isn't that fatalistic? Doesn't that lead to giving up, dropping out, etc.? But the more I pondered the concept, the more I had to 'accept' it! It merely means recognizing and acknowledging reality. No changes-improvements-can ever be made without first seeing things the way they already are! Wishful thinking doesn't work!

The 'Serenity Prayer' is incomplete without the recognition of something more: that acceptance of reality does not imply that one must be satisfied with the status quo, but that the next step must involve action!
