    • POEM: Rondeau by James Henry Leigh Hunt (11/23/2006 5:08:00 AM)

The 'Jenny' referred to in the poem is Jane Carlyle, wife of Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881) . In the 1950s Guy Mitchell, a popular vocalist of the time, recorded a song titled 'Jenny Kissed Me' which contained the lines: 'Say I'm weary, say I'm sad, / Say that health and wealth has missed me. / Say whatever else you may, / But say that Jenny kissed me.' I have never heard any other vocalist sing this lyric.
