Yipes! I just wrote a hole heap about this poem and lost it to hyperspace when my dog started barking real loud (it's the middle of the night) and I had to go deal with it.
Returning now I still feel so angry after reading Leetanya's tremendously brave ('brave' because, well, I can only imagine how extremely hard it must be to reveal the whole range of personal emotions) 'emotive' verse.
I feel answerable. Why? Why, because I, as a male, as a father of two lovely grown-up daughters, [whom I love so much I can't say in words, ] must
rid myself of this anger, which I guess is sheer frustration, knowing what happened to Leetanya, is repeated more times, (and to think of all the cases that never get reported!) than the average person knows and knowing the stark fact, the sickening reality, that this heinous, callous, selfish, mentally destroying act of depravity will go on and on and on and on until... what? I do not know, I just do not know.
Thank you Leetanya for sharing your anger and mental torture with me and the world and doing so in such a positive, creative and expressive manner that only a genuine, rich poem, such as the one written here, can convey!
May each day bring another dropp of human kindness to heal those 'open' wounds of mental anguish.
PS. Wondered if you have read 'The Color Purple' by Alice Walker.
