    • POEM: I Do Not Love You Except Because I Love You by Pablo Neruda (8/22/2007 1:16:00 AM)

Query to all of you that love poetry, and appreciate Mr. Neruda: what are your thoughts and comments regarding this poem I came across:

      DANCE ON THE NAKED EARTH

There are those that are Angels; Some are Saints
      They are among us, Dancing.
Are we so involved in our Pain-
That we can not see Them, Shining?
Are we so Indoctrinated to Believe
      In our own Shame-
That conversely, we who remain, are Sinners?

We revel in our Stupidity and Complicity
While the Saints and Spirits Sing with Benediction:
      The Poetry of our Souls.
Their Blessings bestowed upon us for an Eternity-
      Or in an Instant, Lost.

Take off your Garments of Mendacity,
      Your Mantles of Mediocrity!
Turn your faces toward the Angels
      With Supplication:
And Dance on the Naked Earth.
