  • POEM: Animal Freedom by Louie Levy (4/11/2010 10:51:00 AM)

There is so much meaning in this poem. We devour everything in this world. human beings and animals are both creations of God. Man is given the power of speech, so he is able to express his feelings. Animals being dumb cannot express what they feel. We don't even give animals the status of living biengs. We live with the belief that earth has been made for man. It is true that man has almost won over most part of slavery in the world. But, when will there be a stop to the slaving of animals?
All the religions of the religions of the world said this alike: 'Never hurt living beings.' Whenever I see Jesus's photograph surrounded by sheep, it makes me feel guilty of all the human race. We cut them up for Christmas and eat them, fully aware, but ignoring that they too played a part of gurading the Lord.

I don't know what pleasure people get from killing animals and taking their skin and bones to make jewels and clothes. some say they reflect elegence and money. What I think they reflect is cruelty..I am ashamed to say humans are the most inhumane.

There is punishment for people who kill people. But are there laws to punish those who butcher animals and eat them? There are some, but only for those animals that are endangered. Have we ever thought that we are eating carcasses. I admire George Bernad Shaw for saying that he did not wnat his stomach to be the graveyard of animals.

I don't think we will ever learn to live in unity with nature. We always go for cures than precauions. That's a sad thing. If man gets extinct from the wold, ther is no harm to any animals. But if other animals get extinct, it harm humans. When will we learn? I don't know.

A thought provoking poem, as always, uncle Louie. I admire you.
