  • POEM: Love And Lust by Jazib Kamalvi (6/16/2020 1:04:00 AM)

Awesome poem! I have never read a more comprehensive comparison contrast on two polarizing states as I saw in this one. Well done my friend. Thanks for the invitation to read it and for the kind words you sent about my poem. I hope you are safe and sound in the challenging times we're living in currently.

  • POEM: 'I Hate You Black People' by Bryan Cobaris (3/22/2017 1:22:00 PM)

Thanks for your feedback Robert. I apologize for the delay in responding. Racism isn't about color its about the belief that one group of people is superior to any other group of people just by their birth AND having the power to impose their will upon that group. We have to stop fooling ourselves into thinking we're not different, because we are...and there is nothing wrong with that. The problem comes when those differences makes people feel that they are entitled to having a better life because they're different. I would love to use less sensational titles for my poems, but sadly enough people don't pay attention to positively packaged messages. Unfortunately I'm fully aware how many racist bigots read my poem just because of the title and I'm glad they were disappointed to find out that it was a call of accountability, action and empowerment for my black race. I'm also equally disappointed that many of my people won't receive that call because they dismissed this poem after only reading the title. But if I can reach one person, change one mind, or get one person to think contrary to the negatives they have been conditioned to believe then I've accomplished something.

Thanks for the feedback and the encouraging words Richard. You're right about the revelation of my race as the author but without that subtle hook no one would read it...on either side. Sadly enough the world we live in lacks context or deep interest in anything that requires prolonged thought. Its also sad that the race of a person validates what's being said. No slight against you, I know exactly what you're saying. I get the feeling that you, like myself, is a person that wants to see the world heal.
