Keyaki Zelkova's last comments on poems and poets

Sorry for being so late in responding your call but I have been logged out every time I tried to access to your link here. Here I am at last and below is my comment.

This is a heavy and serious social issue, which normally would be difficult to handle in poetry, not to be too emotional and subjective. 'A Sacrifice Before Day-break' however expresses the painful aspect of India so that outsiders would understand the horrible situation. The uses of effective assonance, e.g. opposed not, no suppose and expose (5th stanza) , add rhythm and smoothness to the poem, making it sublime.

It echoes well when I read it out. Well done.

  • POEM: Love by Phil Kellogg (9/26/2010 10:56:00 PM)

I like this poem: colloquial and natural. Also couplets are made effectively.

  • POEM: Miss ', I Really Miss (101) /500 ### by Hasmukh Amathalal (9/20/2010 3:11:00 PM)

The title 'Miss, I really miss' is appealing. Also I can tell that you worked hard on rhyming. It might give more impact on the sensation of your emotion if you make it shorter as somebody mentioned earlier. Keyaki
